WESTLAKE, Ohio – Fraud. A resident came to the Westlake Police Department at 10:30 a.m. on April 19 to report falling victim to a telephone fraud. The man received a phone call from a man claiming to represent the Federal Trade Commission. The fraudster said he was investigating improper withdrawals from the victim’s bank accounts. The fraudster claimed that to help with the investigation, the FTC wanted the victim to wire thousands of dollars to a bank in New York. The scammer promised that all the funds would be returned once the investigation concluded.
