Demonstrators planned to rally across the Kansas City area Saturday to protest the Trump Administration and urge early voting in the fourth installment of nationwide No Kings day. According to the movement’s national website, “No Kings: Vote Early” on Oct. 17 will have participants split time between rallies and a nonpartisan push for voters to make their voices heard in early voting. Krista Mann of Indivisible KC , a progressive pro-democracy organization, said the event will include mobilization activities like door knocking, canvassing and sharing information about what issues are on local ballots. “It’s also a day of action. It’s not just the show of visible strength that No Kings has really come to be, but it is also how to turn that into direct electoral action,” Mann said. Election day is Nov. 3. Nearly 10 months after the triumphant announcement in Topeka that the Kansas City Chiefs would leave behind Arrowhead Stadium for a new home in Wyandotte County, the Kansas Department of Commerce on Tuesday evening unveiled the official boundaries of the massive two-county incentive district that will make the new stadium a reality. The sales tax and revenue, or STAR bond district, will pay down at least $1.8 billion in bond debt associated with upfront construction costs by drawing on incremental sales tax growth generated across almost all of Wyandotte County and a broad swath of Johnson County. “The district represents a diverse revenue stream that includes the cities of Kansas City, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, Shawnee, Lenexa and Olathe,” reads a Commerce Department release . The boundaries, which Lt. Gov. David Toland set in his role as Commerce secretary, appear to be almost identical to the draft version of the map released in December 2025. The map excludes preexisting STAR bond projects, as well as the University of Kansas Medical Center complex and its immediate surroundings.
