Fairfield man sentenced to 7 years in prison for illegally possessing gun

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Fairfield man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On Friday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that U.S. District Court Judge Madeline H. Haikala had sentenced Terrell Corey McMullin, 31, had been sentenced to 87 months in prison after being convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm .

According to evidence presented at trial, a Pleasant Grove police officer conducted a traffic stop on McMullin, who sped away on February 1, 2022.

The chase ended when McMullin lost control of the vehicle and wrecked in Fairfield. He then got out of the vehicle and ran. The abandoned vehicle was searched and in the driver’s seat an officer found a Glock 9mm pistol with a “Glock switch,” which converts a semi-automatic Glock pistol into a fully automatic machine gun. The gun was later determined to be stolen.

The ATF investigated the case along with the Pleasant Grove Police Department.
