GREENWOOD — A Lawrence Police Department officer was arrested Thursday on suspicion of domestic battery, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Joshua Wise, 43, was jailed Thursday morning in Johnson County after deputies responded to reports about a domestic dispute at a residence in Greenwood. OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) - The family of an Olathe man killed by police on New Year’s Eve in 2022 filed a lawsuit Friday against the City of Olathe and Olathe Police Department. The lawsuit was filed by Brandon Lynch’s mother Maria Varnas. Lynch was killed after police were called to a family residence on Dec. 31, 2022, when Lynch “became agitated, irritable and paranoid about getting the plague,” the lawsuit claims.
