Man charged with assault after using American flag as weapon
Asheville Police Department officers arrested a man after he allegedly used an American flag to assault a grocery store employee. Asheville Police responded to Ingles grocery store on Tunnel Road around 1:58 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, for a report of an assault on an employee. The employee confronted the man who was attempting to steal a beverage, according to police reports.

Juvenile, adult seriously injured in dirt bike crash; investigation underway
BREVARD, N.C. (WLOS) — Two people were seriously injured over the weekend in a dirt bike crash, officials said. North Carolina State Highway Patrol said on Saturday, May 11, one juvenile and one adult on two separate bikes crashed into each other and were both transported to hospitals with severe injuries.
