2 arrested after chase involving stolen Polaris Ranger in Haralson County
HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. - During a proactive patrol operation on Feb. 19, Sgt. Trenton Benson from the Haralson County Sheriff's Office Crime Suppression Unit spotted a Polaris Ranger side by side with no taillights on Winters Road. Sgt. Benson attempted a routine traffic stop, but the Ranger accelerated, prompting a pursuit.

Rome Man Steals car after promising to work on it for victim:. A 53-year-old Rome man was arrested on Wednesday on felony theft charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle. According to Floyd County Jail records, Eric Eugene Vaughn of a Willow Road address took a 2017 Lexus 200SX from a victim under the pretense that he provided bodywork services as a business owner. Vaughn additionally accepted $3,000 from the victim via Cashapp for the work he was going to complete on the vehicle. Vaughn never returned the vehicle to the victim, instead using it for his personal use; the vehicle had been in his possession since December 2022. Vaughn is being charged with felony theft by taking, felony theft by deception, and felony theft by conversion. Jail records also indicate that Vaughn committed deposit account fraud after intentionally writing a bad check to a local janitorial business for the amount of $750.
Fire Destroys Mobile Home in Rome
According to a report by the Rome News-Tribune a single-wide trailer on the Old Rockmart Road – near Preacher Smith Road in Silver Creek – was destroyed by fire on Wednesday. Rome Floyd Fire Department firefighters received reports of the blaze at 7:33am – when first responders arrived at the scene, they found that the trailer was fully involved. The blaze was brought under control quickly after firefighters arrived.

Woman steals over $39,000 from Turner McCall Business:. A 40-year-old Silver Creek woman was arrested Tuesday on felony theft charges. According to Floyd County Jail Records, Karen Colleen Stewart of a Rockmart Road address was taken into custody for allegedly stealing over 39,000 dollars from Tropical Smoothie on Turner McCall Blvd. Jail reports stated that Stewart failed to deposit the businesses’ funds into the store’s bank account, keeping it for herself instead. The time of the theft occurred from the time of April 1st, 2022, to May 12th, 2023. Stewart is being charged with felony theft by taking and felony probation violation.
