Erie man sentenced for 2023 road rage shooting

An Erie man could spend up to 50 years behind bars for a shooting that began as a road rage incident.

28-year-old Alexander Peyton pleaded guilty in January to numerous charges including attempted homicide, aggravated assault and robbery.

Erie man shot after road rage incident on I-79

Wednesday he was sentenced in Erie County Court to 15 to 50 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Peyton shot the victim in the head in February of last year as he sat in his vehicle near the Park ‘n Ride at West 12th and Lincoln Avenue.

This followed a minor accident involving the two on Interstate 79.
