DeBary woman sentenced to community control in deadly Deltona scooter accident
A DeBary woman who left the scene of a crash that killed a scooter rider before returning less than two minutes later was sentenced Monday to community control and probation. Ashley Lynn Hill, 36, of DeBary, was sentenced to two years of community control, which is basically house-arrest, to be followed by three years of probation. Hill's driver's license was suspended for three years.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded the city of Sanford a $5 million grant to clean up and demolish a condemned building in the mill district. Former employee sues City of Deltona in discrimination claim, seeks $100,000-plus
A former municipal employee is suing the City of Deltona for discrimination leading to the termination of her employment. Kimberly Castro, who served as a full-time project manager for Deltona from January 2023 to November 2023, filed the lawsuit May 6 with the 7th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Volusia County. Castro is seeking at least $100,000 in lost wages and benefits, in addition to reimbursement of court costs.
