Greene County Commission Agriculture Tour sheds light on the many ag businesses in the area

Each year, Greene County Commissioners hop on a bus and head out across the region to visit agriculture businesses. The Agriculture Tour is hosted by University Extension. The first of six sites the group visited Friday was Tasty Acres just north of Springfield off Highway 65. People can pick their own strawberries in the spring, their own tomatoes in the summer and purchase pumpkins, flowers and other fall items this time of year.

Springfield Engineering Firm Opens Kansas City Office, Chases Data Center Boom

A Springfield, Missouri-based engineering firm has set up shop in Kansas City, opening its first local office at 1001 E. 101st Terrace and launching a hiring push for engineers and designers, according to the Kansas City Business Journal. Ozarks Food Harvest CEO Bart Brown to retire in 2027

After 25 years with Ozarks Food Harvest, president and CEO Bart Brown plans to retire in March 2027, marking the end of a tenure that saw the organization expand its hunger-relief efforts across southwest Missouri. Brown will remain in the role through March 2027 while the board of directors conducts a national search for a successor, according to a community announcement. Brown joined Ozarks Food Harvest as development director in 1999 and became president and CEO in 2002. During Brown's time in leadership, the organization increased annual food distribution more than fivefold and expanded funding for hunger-relief programs. When Brown became president and CEO, the food bank provided 4 million meals each year. Ozarks Food Harvest now distributes more than 23 million meals annually. "It’s been a privilege to serve Ozarks Food Harvest and work alongside a dedicated board of directors, staff and community of supporters to help Transform Hunger into Hope across southwest Missouri," Brown said. "I’m so grateful for everything we’ve accomplished and excited to see what the next chapter holds for The Food Bank." Contentions over data center development prompt suits across the Ozarks

Developer Trent Overhue is named as a plaintiff in two suits alleging defamation in Webster and Wright Counties. The LLC, NSI, A.1 is also a plaintiff in those suits. Both suits accuse their defendants of defamation stemming from online comments regarding a data center project developed by Overhue near Rifle Range Road in Webster County. Both suits ask for compensation for damages and request a jury trial.
