The Section 4 Class AAA baseball title will come down to a deciding Game 3 thanks to a go-ahead double from Elmira's Logan DeMember with the Express one out from seeing its season end Thursday in an 8-6 road victory over Corning in Game 2 of the best-of-three championship series.

DeMember pulled a three-run double deep into the right-field corner to give Elmira a 7-6 advantage. Michael Palmer followed with an RBI single to drive in DeMember with an insurance run.

Elmira's Aedan Palmer induced a groundout with two on in the bottom of the seventh for the final out. Palmer picked up the win with 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief that included four strikeouts and a walk.

Corning got to Express starter Ashtyn Traugott-Knoll for six runs in the fourth and fifth innings after Elmira led 4-0. The Express committed five errors, which led to three unearned runs.

Hawks starter Larsen Burch went 6 1/3 innings and gave up five runs (three earned) on four hits, with six strikeouts and a walk.

Logan Moore took over with one on and one out in the seventh. A Quinn Hanrahan single and Bobby Cavalier hit by pitch were sandwiched around a fielder's choice, bringing DeMember to the plate with two outs.

Greg Walker was 3-for-4 for Corning and Carter Rosno was 2-for-3, including a single that put the Hawks up 5-4.

DeMember was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Ben Rhode scored three runs for Elmira.

The game was suspended because of lightning Wednesday with Elmira up 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
