Fallen warriors memorial unveiled in Kearney
KEARNEY — During a somber and fitting ceremony, the Kearney-Holt Fallen Warriors Memorial was unveiled on Memorial Day in Jesse James Park in front of a crowd of hundreds. The ceremony was emceed by Stacie Bratcher, executive director of the Kearney Chamber of Commerce and featured Presentation of and retirement of the Colors by the Civil Air Patrol Platte Valley Composite Squadron (NRC-MO-140); the National Anthem, “Taps” and other patriotic music; the Pledge of Allegiance; an invocation and benediction; Keynote Speaker Sheriff and Army veteran Will Akin; guest speakers Alderman Dan Holt of Kearney and Holt City Treasurer Karen Lovekamp; special tributes on why memorials are important from Kearney High School students; thanking of donors; unveiling of the memorial, placing of a wreath and reading of names on it by surviving relatives; an Honor Guard rifle salute; and pin presentations to Gold Star Families, surviving relatives of military service members who died while serving in the Armed Forces.

Boil advisory issued for Cowgill
COWGILL, MO - A water boil advisory is expected to be in effect for another day. Water Supply District no. 1 for Caldwell County posted the advisory just before noon Tuesday. The precaution is due to repairs after a system leak was detected. The advisory is for customers south of Highway 116 and south of Route B until midday Thursday, or until further notice.
