PENN LAIRD, Va. (WHSV) - Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Spotswood’s baseball team rallied for two runs to defeat Broadway 6-5 on Thursday night. With runners at second and third base, Cam Blank singled up the middle to bring in both runs and help Spotswood to a comeback win. The Blazers (15-4, 8-3) now sit a half game behind Broadway (15-4, 9-3) in the Valley District standings.

The William Monroe Dragons (13-5, 7-3 Valley District) spoiled the Harrisonburg Blue Streaks (3-15, 2-12) senior day game with a 12-2 seven-inning game in Harrisonburg on Monday evening. In a third inning that saw the whole lineup bat, junior Dallas Battaile-Gilbert launched a grand slam into left field that helped increase the Dragons’ lead to eight runs at that point. The Dragons recorded ten hits and one error in the win, and will host Spotswood (14-4, 7-3) tonight.
Trimble, O’Donnell power JMU past Troy 14-10
TROY, Ala. (WHSV) - Fenwick Trimble matched his career high in hits, Brendan O’Donnell hit home run No. 15, and JMU took the first game in the three game series at Troy 14-10. Trimble helped the Dukes jump out to an early lead in the first inning when he launched a two-run home run to centerfield. Trimble finished the night 4 for 5 with three RBI.
