Accidental shooting kills Creswell woman in Cottage Grove
COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – A Creswell woman is dead after an accidental firearm discharge fatally wounded her early on Sunday morning, Cottage Grove police reported. According to the Cottage Grove Police Department, CGPD officers, deputies from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, and medics from South Lane Fire and Rescue responded to a home on east Main Street at about 4:33 a.m. on June 9 for reports of a woman who had been shot. Police said that despite lifesaving measures attempted by first responders, the woman was declared deceased at the scene.

Sutherlin fire crews respond to commercial building blaze
SUTHERLIN, Ore. – Firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze at a commercial building in Sutherlin on Sunday evening, according to Sutherlin Fire officials. Authorities said that fire officials responded at 8:44 p.m. on May 26 to reported fire in a commercially-occupied building in the 200 block of West Central Avenue. Initial responding fire personnel arrived to find heavy smoke, fire coming from multiple openings in the building, and multiple exposure fires which led to a second alarm being called, according to fire officials. Sutherlin Fire authorities said that the second alarm was soon canceled after the first responding crews quickly knocked down the blaze. A total of three engines, one ladder truck, and one ambulance responded to the scene with 26 personnel at the scene, according to Sutherlin Fire officials.
