ELKTON — A man caught with a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen, more than one once of cocaine and other evidence when investigators raided his Elkton-area motel room in October has received a six-and-a-half-year prison term, according to court records.

Cecil County Circuit Court Judge Cameron A. Brown imposed a 20-year sentence on the defendant — Corey Breshon Jordan, 34 — for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and then suspended all but 18 months of that penalty during a courtroom hearing on Monday, court records show. The judge also imposed a consecutive 15-year sentence on Jordan for possession of a handgun in the commission of a felony and then suspended all but five years of that penalty.

In addition, Brown ordered Jordan to serve three years of supervised probation after completing his six-and-a-half-year term in a Maryland Department of Corrections prison and to forfeit $3,403 that investigators had confiscated from him, according to court records. Should Jordan violate his probation, he would face up to 28 and a half years in additional incarceration — reflecting the sum of his suspended sentences.

Cecil County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the agency’s Street Level Crimes Unit filed criminal charges against Jordan after raiding what investigators described as Jordan’s residence in the 400 block of West Pulaski Highway (Route 40) near Elkton in mid-October, court records show.

From August through the early part of October, CCSO detectives had conducted an investigation that focused on Jordan and his “involvement in controlled dangerous substance distribution throughout Elkton,” police said.

The investigation led to investigators raiding Jordan’s residence at Steele’s Motel, a short distance west of Elkton, on Oct. 11, five days after CCSO Det. Nathan Cryder, lead investigator, obtained a search warrant, police added.

When raiding officers arrived at Steele’s Motel, they saw Jordan inside a red Dodge Durango, which also was occupied by a woman and her two minor children, and they detained him, police reported.

While searching Jordan’s rented motel room, investigators found and seized approximately 42 grams of cocaine, which translates to approximately one and a half ounces, court records show. There are 28 about ounces in one gram.

Investigators also confiscated a loaded Springfield 9mm handgun that had been reported stolen through Elkton Police Department and a box of 9mm ammunition, according to court records.

In addition, investigators seized approximately $3,300 in cash and drug paraphernalia, police reported.
