Riverside Softball’s First Inning Helped Carry 10-4 Victory Over AHSTW
(Oakland, IA) – With a first-inning rally, the Riverside Bulldogs captured a win on Friday night, beating the AHSTW Lady Vikes 10-4. While the score may not look the part, the game was one that kept you on your feet and the defense continued to shine at many moments throughout the ballgame.

(Elk Horn, IA) – The Exira-EHK Spartans are off to a good start this week after the first week of baseball action. In their first game, they were able to capture a 7-6 victory over ACGC with a dominant pitching performance and quite a few key hits throughout the game, including Jaiden Pettipier who hit the game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh. Head Coach Randy Kelly was impressed with the win, especially because the boys were not fully together as a team until that specific contest.
Multiple Vehicle Accident on I80 Near Walnut Claims One Life
(Walnut) One person died, and another suffered injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near Walnut. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday near the 48.55-mile marker in the westbound lanes on Interstate 80. Authorities say 45-year-old Emma Gonzalez Maldonado, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died in the crash. Emily Elizabeth Esteban, of Lincoln, suffered injuries.
Griswold Baseball is Thriving in Statistics and Eyeing Wins to Start Season
(Griswold, IA) – The Griswold Tigers started off week one with a 1-2 overall record after beating Audubon in their first game 11-1 and losing by just two runs to both Exira-EHK and Stanton in games two and three. Wins this season aren’t going to come easy, but they are going to continue to see their hard work pay off in the win column. Exira-EHK Rallies in Fifth Inning to Take 7-5 Victory Over Griswold
(Griswold, IA) – With it being just the second baseball game of the season for both Exira-EHK and Griswold, they surely delivered one of the best early-season competitions. The Spartans were able to capture a 7-5 win on the night over the Tigers to bring Exira-EHK to a 2-0 record and Griswold to a 1-1 overall record on the season. Exira-EHK Head Coach Randy Kelly was more than happy to see his boys capture another win to get to a 2-0 spot.
Chargers fall short in season opener to Exira-EHK, 7-6
The ACGC boys baseball team (0-1) hit the field for the first time this season yesterday, May 20, at Exira-EHK (1-0), losing 7-6. The Chargers almost completed a fantastic comeback, tying the game in the fifth inning with a six-run burst. However, Exira-EHK’s run in the seventh inning sealed ACGC’s defeat. Individual stats were not available for ACGC at press time.
