A series of strong showers, accompanied by gusty winds and potential thunderstorms, is set to affect several counties in the eastern region, including Elk, Clearfield, southeastern McKean, northern Blair, Cameron, and Cambria, until 5:45 PM EST. The weather system, moving east at 50 mph, was detected by Doppler radar extending from 12 miles northeast of St. Marys to near Portage at 5:16 PM EST. The main risk involves wind gusts of up to 50 mph, which could potentially cause damage by breaking tree limbs and displacing unsecured objects. The areas expected to be impacted include Altoona, St. Marys, Clearfield, Hollidaysburg, Tyrone, Ebensburg, Nanty-Glo, Cameron, Northern Cambria, Philipsburg, Woodland, Curwensville, Emporium, Bald Eagle, Lakemont, Bellwood, Patton, Cresson, Gallitzin, and Penfield. No hail is expected, but wind gusts could reach up to 50 mph.
