Elberta teen accused of trying to sell fentanyl to Mary G. Montgomery student: MCSO

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Elberta man on suspicion of selling fentanyl to a minor, according to an MCSO news release.

MCSO reportedly was contacted by a Mary G. Montgomery student about an attempt to sell what is believed to be fentanyl to a student.

MCSO’s undercover narcotics team investigated and identified the person attempting to make the sale as Jackson Powell Lewis, 19, of Elberta, according to the release.

Lewis was out on bond for manslaughter and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance to his then-15-year-old girlfriend, Adrianna Taylor , according to the release.

Taylor was found dead from an overdose on Aug. 31, 2022.

Jackson is now charged with the sale and attempt to furnish illegal narcotics to a minor.

“The MCPSS Resource Officer turned over the information quickly to our team, and we were able to make an arrest before the pill was sold,” Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch said.

“I have no doubt a life was saved because of the swift actions of this team effort.”
