Woman Found Dead in Tent Identified
Police have identified the woman found dead in a tent at the homeless encampment near Walmart on Feb. 19. Kacie Ranes, 25, of Alcalde, was found at about 7:56 p.m., when someone called 911. According to dispatch logs, people were saying she’d been hit by a vehicle earlier in the day, but nothing was reported. Española Police Chief Mizel Garcia said Ranes’s death is still being investigated as suspicious.
