The El Paso sector of the Border Patrol will celebrate the 100th anniversary this weekend in El Paso. If you haven't been to the U.S. Border Patrol Museum in the Northeast, this weekend will be a great time to learn about the Border Patrol and their service.
Cool Canyon Nights, the outdoor free concerts in the beautiful McKelligon Canyon, returns with weekly performances. Families will enjoy stopping by Chuco Relic this Sunday for a fun shopping day.
This weekend is Memorial Day weekend, so there are some great festivals to enjoy in Las Cruces and Ruidoso.

Cool Canyon Nights
Prime Rocks will perform Thursday, May 23, at Cool Canyon Nights, a free concert at McKelligon Canyon. Gates open at 6 p.m. Next week, The Retro'z and a Tom Elton Tribute will be Thursday, May 30, at the canyon.

Border Patrol centennial events in El Paso
The El Paso Sector will hold its annual Fallen Agent Memorial Service at 9 a.m. Friday, May 24, at the National U.S. Border Patrol Museum, 4315 Transmountain Road.
The celebration continues with the National Centennial Parade at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 25 in Downtown. The parade will start and stop at the El Paso convention center and circle San Jacinto Plaza.
Mark Chesnutt
Country singer Mark Chesnutt will bring his honky-tonk classics like "Too Cold at Home" to the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero Saturday, May 25. The concert will be at 6 p.m. Tickets, ranging from $25 to $65, plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.
El Paso Water Lantern Festival
The El Paso Water Lantern Festival returns to Ascarate Park from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25.
Tickets are $35 and up, depending on when purchased, and on sale at https://www.waterlanternfestival.com/elpaso.php.
The ticket allows people to design a lantern and put it in the water with an LED candle. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m., and the launch will be at 7:30 p.m.
Learn about ducks at Family Day
The Centennial Museum at UTEP will hold a fun Family Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25. Explore the world of ducks with A Waddle Through Time: Ducks, People and the Conservation Odyssey, hands-on activities and demonstrations. Learn about their habitats, behaviors and unique adaptations that make them interesting creatures. This is a free program.
Chuco Relic to have 90s Market
Chuco Relic will have a 90s Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at 3750 Gateway Blvd. E. There will be custom-made door signs, photography, hair and body glitter gel, other vendors and food trucks.
2024 New Mexico Wine Festival in Las Cruces
The 2024 New Mexico Wine Festival will occur during Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27, at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds in Las Cruces. Hours will be noon to 6 p.m. daily. The wine festival features over 200 wine vendors, numerous food booths, over 50 artisan vendors and entertainment, including Latin and country rockers. Any-day tickets are $30 through May 24 and $35, effective Saturday, May 25.
Tequila & Margarita Festival in Ruidoso
The Tequila & Margarita Festival featuring Stoney LaRue will be at the event center at Ruidoso Downs from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday, May 25. The festival will start at 5 p.m. in the pavilion. LaRue will take the stage at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the Tequila & Margarita Festival are $20, which includes ten samples of tequila and margaritas that will be featured that evening during the performance. Tickets available at holdmyticket.com
Concert seating options are as follows: general admission is $30, premium seating is $50, and VIP concert seating is $157 plus tax and fees, per person. A meet-and-greet admission is also available to hard-core LaRue fans.
Paradox Immersive Art Gallery to open new exhibits
Paradox Immersive Art Gallery, 3915 Rosa Ave., will open three new exhibits with a reception from 8 to 11 p.m. June 1 in Central El Paso near Lincoln Park. The evening will feature works by Laura Turón and artists Isadora Stowe and Gitzel Moncisvais, in addition to other artists.
The gallery was founded by a local artist, Laura Turón, who, in February, got accepted into an art residency in Iceland to do research and create new work. Upon returning home, she created Enchanted Skies, an immersive experience combining interactive projections with the beauty of the Northern Lights. She showcases her creation inside the Paradox Bus, a mobile gallery, giving visitors a glimpse of the celestial wonders she had experienced in Iceland. In addition, Turon will display a collection of photographs, each capturing the northern lights across the Arctic sky. Artist Gitzel Moncisvais will feature her Starter Home house interior, and Isadora Stowe will feature her art piece, Spaciousness.
