El Paso man killed in Martin Co crash

MARTIN COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash that left one person dead last weekend.

According to a crash report, around 10:55 p.m. on April 6. troopers responded to the area of County Road 2400 and County Road 3201 in Martin County to investigate a crash. At the scene, troopers found a 2007 Jeep Patriot, driven by 26-year-old Daniel Avila, III, of El Paso. Investigators said Avila was traveling eastbound on CR 2400, approaching the intersection of CR 3201, when he veered off the roadway into the southeast barrow ditch and struck a dirt mound, which caused the Jeep to roll.

Investigators said Avila was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
