Canyon wins The Canyons: Canyon Woodward and Elena Horton win 100-mile races
Over the course of Friday and Saturday, more than 2,500 runners were out on the trails in the Auburn area as part of The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB. Auburn, the birthplace of ultrarunning, was the final destination for these runners with the race serving as the UTMB World Series Americas Major, providing finishers with more opportunities to qualify for the UTMB World Series Finals held at Mont-Blanc in France.
Rea pitches gem vs. Bulldogs, Trojans win, 2-0
For the first time this season, Oak Ridge has won three straight league games. After winning the last two games against Del Oro last week, Oak Ridge opened the three-game series with Folsom with a win Monday. Trojan ace Brady Rea threw a no-hitter in 2-0 victory. Folsom might have hit two balls hard, but the closest they came to a hit were a couple groundouts to the left side of the infield.
West Park baseball works to strike out cancer
Cancer is the disease that has affected us all at one point or another. West Park High’s baseball team held its third annual Strike Out Cancer baseball game against Vista del Lago on Saturday. It’s a special day each year where the team recognizes cancer and all the loved ones battling the disease, as well as those who have been taken because of it. It means a lot to those involved, including West Park head coach Ben Petersen, who lost his mom eight years ago at age 49 to ovarian cancer.

Dynasty: Placer's Isaac leads Hillmen to another boys tennis title
Tom Isaac has lost count of how many league championships he has won in 26 years of coaching boys and girls tennis at Placer High School. Isaac's teams have won the league championship every season in boys tennis and all but one with the girls. After his lone second-place finish, Isaac led the Placer girls team to the Sac-Joaquin Section championship.
