Good morning! It took five months, but the Cox Ranch property west of Cheyenne is now set to to be a site for a data center after members of the Cheyenne City Council approved three items annexing and rezoning the land . Alyssa Tolman's coverage of Monday's meeting details councilors first voting to annex the land into the city, and then subsequently rezoned the property to agricultural zoning, along with public zoning for the city-owned parcel. A separate ordinance changed the Cox Ranch property from agricultural to business park zoning. Letter to the Editor: Prop 1 shortchanges local control
Proposition 1 sounds great on paper. Who doesn’t want to pay less tax?. We have already seen the 25% residential tax cut passed by the legislature. People who own their own houses have saved money on their taxes. As have the people who own rental property, but I am sure they reduced the rent to their tenants.

City Council advances Orchard Hills data center items ahead of Oct. 12 final vote
CHEYENNE — Industrial development took center stage at a Cheyenne City Council meeting Monday evening with nine items related to two confirmed data center development projects on the agenda. One of these is the Orchard Hills data center project proposed to be located west of South Greeley Highway, south of West College Drive, and southwest of and adjacent to the intersection of Apple Street and York Avenue. It is adjacent to the existing Meta data center campus. Members of the council advanced plans for the proposed 162-acre data center development in south Cheyenne, approving its annexation and two zoning measures on second reading despite ongoing objections from residents in the area, and the city’s Planning Commission’s previous denial of the project. The data center campus is being developed by Dallas-based Trammell Crow Company. The council approved an item annexing the land, and then subsequently rezoned the property to agricultural zoning. A separate ordinance changed the Orchard Hills property from agricultural to light industrial zoning. The council also voted to overrule the Planning Commission’s unanimous denial of a related future land-use map. A separate resolution changing the property’s future land-use designation from mixed-use residential to mixed-use employment was postponed until Oct.
