A criminal complaint stated that on Feb. 26, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash near Owassa Road, east of Tower Road in Hidalgo County.

When the trooper arrived, he saw a single vehicle, which was a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado with two occupants, a 20-year-old man and woman. EMS was called because the woman, who was pregnant, was complaining of pain.

The Silverado had rear end damage, and the second vehicle fled the scene, the document stated.

The complaint states that the suspect’s vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, was later located behind a home on the 200 block of Pine Street in Donna.

According to the document, “the Avalanche had significant front-end damage and did not have proof of financial responsibility.”

The driver was identified as 19-year-old Juan Francisco Uribe, the complaint details. Uribe admitted to authorities that he fled the scene. The complaint added that he failed to report the crash to police and check the status of the occupants.

“[The woman] was treated for her injuries at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance and gave birth to her baby the following day,” the complaint stated.

Uribe was booked into the Hidalgo County Jail where his bond was set at $5,000. He was released from jail three days later.
