Editor’s note: This viewpoint was also published in the Fall River County Herald. I write this letter to alert the citizens of Fall River County that the South Dakota State Water Board published two new water permit applications to enable in situ leach uranium mining by a multinational corporation, Powertech USA, at the Dewey Burdock site north of Edgemont. The implications for our county are enormous, but by the time this letter is published, citizens will have less than FOUR DAYS to register a public comment or apply to be a party in the Water Board hearing.
