PEORIA (25News Now) - Our severe weather threat this evening has ended, and now we turn our attention to a big drop in temperatures and strong winds overnight. A Wind Advisory is in effect through 6 AM tomorrow. Wind gusts overnight will be as high as 45 mph. We’ll stay breezy throughout most of the day tomorrow, but gusts should remain below advisory criteria. Gusts tomorrow will be around 35 mph.

Huge temperature drop overnight into Wednesday morning
We use the term “Falling Temperatures” all the time but not like this. After reaching a high of 78 Tuesday afternoon, lows Wednesday morning will drop near 20 after a stronger than normal cold front clears the area. If you do the math, that’s nearly a 60 degree drop in actual air temperature, and it will feel even colder with single digit wind chills Wednesday morning. Strong northwest winds accompany the cold and wind chills will be in the teens Wednesday afternoon. Peoria’s biggest drop in 24-hour temperatures was November 11 and 12, 1911 when the temperature fell from 77 to 12 which is 65 degrees. That event was called the “Greater Blue Norther”.

Teens Arrested in Peoria Facebook Marketplace Robbery and Death
18-year-old Keshawn Williams faces Armed Robbery charges for a botched Facebook Marketplace deal gone horribly wrong earlier this year, resulting in a fatality. Williams will remain confined to Peoria County Jail until his trial. On January 15th, a vehicle sale turned tragic when buyers were lured into a south-end alley and met with gunfire during an attempted robbery. One buyer, acting in self-defense, returned fire, resulting in a fatality among the assailants. Two other individuals, Sontarrius Williams and Jalyn Branscumb, were previously charged in this case.
