Reno Man Arrested in South Lake Tahoe for Stealing a Car, Running from Police
A Reno man has been arrested after he allegedly stole a car, then fled an attempted traffic stop, crashed the car, and fled on foot. Around 2 p.m. on Wednesday officers came across the car, identified as an Audi stolen out of Sacramento. They attempted a stop and the driver fled, crashing in front of a BevMo according to a post on Facebook from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.
2 suspects, including former MLB pitcher, ordered to stand trial in Lake Tahoe murder case
PLACER COUNTY -- A judge ruled that former MLB pitcher Danny Serafini and Samantha Scott will stand trial in a Lake Tahoe murder case.The decision comes after four days of testimony from witnesses, including the wife of the accused killer who is also the daughter of the victim taking the stand on Wednesday. Serafini and former nanny Scott are charged with the murder of Serafini's father-in-law, Gary Sphor and the attempted murder of Sphor's wife. The couple were attacked inside Sphor's Lake Tahoe home back in 2021. The suspects are scheduled to be back in court in June. They have both pled not guilty.
Small El Dorado County community pushes back against proposed facilities
RESCUE — A nonprofit developer wants to build two facilities to help Native American Women with disabilities and youth who are pregnant in rural El Dorado County. Residents in the community of Rescue have expressed multiple concerns since learning about the project last year. "What we're really concerned about is the patient experience. This location is not a good location for this type of facility," Chris Silva, Rescue resident, said. Native Directions and HomeCA are tribal and nonprofit organizations that received state grants through Assembly Bill 172.
