Thunder Road driver working to become first woman to win rookie of the year
BARRE, Vt. — It's only been four years since Taylor Hoar first got behind the wheel of her own racecar, but quickly she's gained a following as a trailblazer in the sport. Hoar is going to be the first woman in over a decade to race in Thunder Road's late model division. Previously, Hoar raced in the street stock division. She'll get to compete for rookie of the year honors, trying to become the first woman to do so.
Montpelier hosts 41st VT Corporate Cup Challenge
One of Vermont’s oldest and largest road races hit the streets in Vermont’s capital city on Thursday. Roughly 2,500 participants gathered on the State House lawn for the 41st annual Vermont Corporate Cup Challenge and State Agency 5k race. All proceeds from the race help support the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports to provide athletic programs like the Vermont Senior Games, Parks Rx, and Fit and Healthy Kids.
Beau Welling begins renovation of No. 1 public-access course in Vermont
Stowe Country Club, ranked by Golfweek’s Best as the No. 1 public-access course in Vermont, is slated to undergo a two-year renovation by golf architect Beau Welling. In the town of Stowe, the course originally opened in 1950 and was expanded in 1962 by William Mitchell. The club plans a growing membership, but public-access opportunities are available through stay-and-play packages at the Lodge at Spruce Creek.
