Ponaganset tennis star Steere drops just eight games en route to RIIL singles title
GLOCESTER – Josh Steere provided very little drama on his way to the RIIL’s top prize for high school tennis players. Dropping just eight games in his five matches, the Ponaganset High senior and Bryant University commit captured the state singles championship on Sunday afternoon at Slater Park by cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Lincoln High senior Camden DiChiara.
Panthers keep winning
The Johnston softball team picked up a 6-1 win over visiting Narragansett on Tuesday during the team’s Senior Night. The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the first and would tack on three runs in the sixth to run away with the victory. Alexia DiLorenzo went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Arianna Velasquez, Layla Bryand and Madison Campano also drove in runs.
