    East Brunswick's Ronnie Li to Receive Community Leaders of Distinction Award for Volunteerism

    MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ - The Community Leaders of Distinction Award honors an individual or organization whose activities have made a difference and have improved the quality of life for our neighbors and the communities in Middlesex County. This award celebrates and showcases the honorees’ important contributions to our community.

    Ronnie Li of East Brunswick has been named Community Volunteer of the Year and will be honored at a showcase on Wednesday, May 29 at the Pines Manor in Edison.

    Ronnie Hsieh-Li, MS CCC, champions healthcare, education, sports, nonprofit business, and civil service, advocating for community collaboration. The East Brunswick Regional Chamber of Commerce honored Ronnie as the recipient of the prestigious Member of the Year for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023, empowering her inspirational compassion as an accomplished Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist focused on Rehabilitation Medicine, and Special Education. Upon completion of her Masters of Science from Teacher's College, Columbia University in SLP with a dual Teacher's Certificate for Science K-12, Ronnie began an exemplary professional career. Her four-decade-long career included Administrative Leadership at NYU Downtown Hospital, NYC Health + Hospitals, Visiting Nurse Service Homecare, NYC Board of Education, Helen Keller School for the Visually Impaired, Touro College, East Brunswick Center for Speech and Hearing Sciences, Learning Tree Multicultural/Multilingual Evaluation, and private consultations. NYU Downtown Hospital recognized Ronnie as the recipient of the Friend of Nursing Excellence Award, cheering for her patients and their families, medical team colleagues, and supportive community outreach advocates!

    Ronnie actively volunteers in her community with Mayoral appointment to East Brunswick Recreation and Park Advisory Board, EB Youth Council Advisory Board, LOVE SERVING DAISY, EB Sustainability, EBDO/MCDO and as Senior Advisor to Asian American Pacific Islander AAPI of EB. Through her work as an Ambassador to Recycle Balls, residents have saved 53,000 tennis balls from the town's landfill. Mayor Brad Cohen, MD, Assemblymen Stanley and Karabinchak and Senator Diegnan, EB Town Council presented Ronnie with EB Proclamation and Resolution for her impact on EB Community investment advocating upgrades to tennis courts, Youth Tennis programs, and RPAB.

    A tennis/pickleball enthusiast and certified coach, she successfully advocated for the resurfacing/construction of new tennis/pickleball courts, established CAO EB Youth Tennis, afterschool USTA NETGEN tennis, LOVE SERVING DAISY adaptive tennis programs, launched pickleball instruction, leagues and open play establishing EB Pickleball Club and newly approved Coalition of Athletic Organization of EB Cricket Club as Founder/BOD.  Ronnie has been awarded MVP from USTA singles/doubles women's, mixed doubles teams for local, districts, sectionals and national tournaments, the national US Tennis Association EASTERN NJ Volunteer of the Year and the international US Open Champion to Champion Award. Ronnie has accomplished all this while establishing and managing community organizations, HAI YA Tennis Champions and innovative Breakfast of Champions Tournaments, uniting diverse athletes for competitive challenges with camaraderie and implementing networking, recruiting, retention, and community.

    East Brunswick has been the home of her family and her husband, Dr. Kenneth M. Li, DDS, PA's private practice since 1985. Their sons graduated from Blue Ribbon EB Public Schools and Rutgers University. Notably, her philanthropic legacy includes Michigan State University College of Human Medicine scholarships for 3rd/4th year Medical Students with exemplary Community Service in honor of her parents, Jonathan YS and Jane Hsieh Endowment.
