JPS Dedicates Tree, Stone in Memory of Fletcher School Student

Family, friends, and members of the Fletcher Elementary School community gathered last week to dedicate a chestnut oak and memorial stone in memory of Johnny LaMancuso, who passed away in April shortly after his 10th birthday following a battle with Ewing sarcoma. According to Jamestown Public Schools, LaMancuso loved collecting and cracking acorns with his grandfather, and a tree near the playground at Fletcher School will grow in his memory, offering shade for generations of children at the school he loved. His siblings and close friends helped plant the tree before others joined in.

National Comedy Center Launching Susan Sargent Caregiver Week

The National Comedy Center is getting ready to launch an initiative to honor caregivers supporting loved ones through illness, disability or other conditions requiring care. From November 9-15, the museum's first-ever Susan Sargent Caregiver Week will offer complimentary museum admission for each caregiver and the loved one receiving their care. Caregivers are also welcome to visit on their own for a personal moment of respite. Participants will receive take-home resources to bring laughter and connection into their caregiving relationships. The initiative is being presented during National Family Caregivers Month and reflects its 2026 theme, "Care Connects Us."

Arab Hill Forest Road Closed In Boutwell Hill State Forest For Road Maintenance Project

This closure is necessary to accommodate a road maintenance project that will rehabilitate the northern section of Arab Hill Forest Road. Contractors have installed fresh gravel on a section of Arab Hill Forest Road that runs north from Housington Road to where it meets Lewis Road. The gravel needs time to settle and compact to ensure its viability for the future. This section experiences heavy use during the hunting season and opening it to vehicular traffic immediately would result in rutting and likely compromise the road’s foundation, negating the recent repairs.
