Lakeway mayor: Prepare for summer heat, gear up for summer fun
It’s been a scorcher the last few weeks, and we’re gearing up for another long run of extreme temperatures this summer season. Please make sure to plan accordingly, especially as you conduct activities outside during the peak daytime hours. Plan to limit your activities as much as possible, drink plenty of water with electrolytes, and wear light, breathable clothing if you do have to be outdoors for extended periods of time. Know the signs of heat stroke, and don’t hesitate to take any necessary breaks. Never leave children, pets or other people in an unattended vehicle during the day. And I ask you to please check on your family and neighbors from time to time, especially our older residents. If someone is gardening in their backyard or happens to lose power for even a short period of time, the heat could quickly overcome someone. Ready.Gov has some other great resources for preparing for the continued extreme heat, so I encourage you to visit that website, and please stay safe out there.
