MTSU football snaps seven-game series skid against Western Kentucky
Dominic Bourgeois kicked a 48-yard field goal with one second left, helping Middle Tennessee State football snap a seven-game losing streak to Western Kentucky, winning 51-42 on Nov. 7 at Floyd Stadium. The Hilltoppers attempted several laterals on the ensuing kickoff, but MTSU returned an illegal forward pass for a touchdown as time expired for the final margin. MTSU fans stormed the field, celebrating the Blue Raiders ' first win in the "100 Miles of Hate" rivalry since 2018. MTSU (5-4, 3-2 Conference USA) led 42-27 before Western Kentucky (3-6, 2-3) scored two touchdowns in less than five minutes to tie the game with 31 seconds left. But the Blue Raiders made a couple of big plays and WKU committed a 10-yard holding penalty to set up the field goal attempt. The Blue Raiders racked up 513 yards of total offense and led most of the game. MTSU struggled putting the Hilltoppers away, however, as WKU managed 497 yards of offense. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Roman Gagliano had a huge day for the Blue Raiders. Gagliano, who made his first career start in last year’s game at WKU, completed 30-of-41 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns. MTSU running back Antonio
