Ham at room temp, spoiled chicken. What Eaton County inspectors found

CHARLOTTE — When county health inspectors visit local restaurants, they document problems that need addressing to meet standards set by Michigan food codes and law. The most serious problems are considered priority violations, which present potential health hazards and should be corrected immediately. Priority foundation violations do not present immediate health hazards but should be corrected in a timely manner. Consequently, follow-up inspections and reports may be generated. In most cases, violations are corrected, and this information isn't an indication that violations at any establishment are an ongoing issue. Here are the most serious violations found in Eaton County restaurants and eating establishments for October Three priority violations and two priority foundation violations were found at: KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, 5924 W. Saginaw Hwy., Lansing There were temperature issues with miso soup and seafood sauce. Several containers of cut leafy greens such aslettuce, bok choy, cabbage, spinach, and items such as corn cobs and cooked taro root were sitting out in a prep area at room temperature, ranging between 53 and 60 degrees, instead of 41 degrees and below. "A plastic serving container used to hold cocktail garnishes such as cut limes and oranges was observed being stored

Bug 'with many legs,' sewage smell cited at pizzeria in Holland

Each week, the Ottawa County Department of Public Health releases a round-up of recent safety inspections at restaurants, schools and other facilities. Adhering to proper safety practices is critical to preventing foodborne illness and promoting public health. The Sentinel publishes regular reports on “priority” violations — ones that could directly lead to contamination of food or increase the risk of transmitting a foodborne illness, as well as corrective measures taken. The Sentinel also reports on “priority foundation” violations — ones that could lead to a priority violation. The health department notes “core” violations, but The Sentinel only reports on those if there’s a significant accumulation at a single eatery or the inspection noted more serious violations. All reports are available at miottawa.org/health/environmental/food-services . Bambu Holland 3013 W.
