Hello! I hope you are ready to start your Saturday.

Let's take a look at the weather, which shows an expected high of 79 degrees with times of showers and sunshine.

    And here's the news ...

Potential use of 1 Renaissance Center tower

Owners of one of the smaller Renaissance Center towers, Tower 600, are asking the city if the building can be used as potential housing units.

Tower 600 is one of a pair of shorter, 21-story baby towers that are part of the iconic seven-tower complex. They are next door to the original RenCen towers: four 39-story towers surrounding the central 73-story Marriott hotel tower, JC Reindl writes. Currently, the only use allowed in the tower right now is office space and even restaurants or retail stores aren't permitted. These tight constraints on Tower 600 don't exist for other RenCen towers.

The original five RenCen towers are still owned by General Motors, even though the automaker announced in April its plans to relocate its world headquarters in 2025 out of the RenCen and into a portion of Dan Gilbert's new Hudson's site development on Woodward.
