The Detroit Lions made a pair of picks in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but one in particular is receiving praise from Pro Football Focus.

Detroit drafted Boston College guard Christian Mahogany and LSU defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo in that round, but the latter is the one PFF's Trevor Sikkema named the best of the sixth round in the 2024 NFL Draft.

    Here are his thoughts:

This was a great spot to get Wingo, a good athlete for someone his size. His 84.9 run-defense grade since 2022 is the best among SEC defensive tackles in that span, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him develop into a good rotational player in Detroit.

Not that Wingo wasn't a good pick and value in that spot, but I thought Mahogany was an even better one. After all, many projected him to go in the middle rounds.

Adding to that, Mahogany landed at No. 93 on a consensus board of expert rankings compiled by Arif Hasan of Wide Left , yet he was drafted at No. 210 overall. Wingo, on the other hand, was ranked No. 109 but was drafted at No. 189.

Based on that, Mahogany was a better value, but it's clear the Lions did very well with both of their sixth-round picks, at least on paper.
