According to a news release , Sunda New Asian is set to open in The District Detroit at 33 W. Columbia Street . A phenomenon concept by Emmy award-winning TV personality, actor and restaurateur Billy Dec , Sunda New Asian has recently opened two new locations in Chicago’s Fulton Market and Tampa, FL.

“Just as we identified Nashville as a growing market to explode 10 years ago, Tampa 4 years ago, we are confident Detroit is about to go on an outstanding growth run the world won’t see coming and Sunda wants to contribute and be part of it all,” Billy Dec said in the release.

The Detroit Sunda New Asian will carry the restaurant’s signature items from its original Chicago location. Featured menu items include the beloved spicy tuna crispy rice. The upcoming location will also serve Sunda’s hand-crafted cocktails.

“The restaurant scene in Detroit has experienced exponential growth over the last few years. The talent and diversity of food and drink experiences is exceptional. The ever trend setting Mr. Dec saw the opportunity in The District Detroit and chose Columbia Street for his first Detroit restaurant” said Keith Bradford , President of Olympia Development of Michigan and The District Detroit , in the press release.

The District in Detroit is managed by Michigan-based Olympia Development. Other food options along Columbia Street include Frita Batidos, JoJo’s ShakeBAR, Sahara Restaurant and Grill, Good Cakes and Bakes, Detroit Vs Everybody, M Den, Union Assembly and Mom’s Spaghetti. Sunda New Asian is anticipated to open in the Spring of 2025.
