DETROIT (WWJ) — The freeway has reopened hours after a truck slammed into an overpass Wednesday afternoon in Detroit, causing a big backup on I-94.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. along westbound I-94 near Van Dyke, according to Michigan State Police. The freeway reopened shortly after 6 p.m.

Officials say no one was injured in the crash. No other circumstances surrounding the incident have been released.

Photos from the scene show the back of a what appears to be a dump truck wedged underneath the overpass, which didn’t appear to have sustained extensive structural damage.

The freeway was shut down at Van Dyke, with the entrances from Van Dyke and Gratiot closed. MSP officials were telling drivers to avoid the area, as traffic was backed up roughly five miles Outer Drive.

MSP officials said reopening of the freeway would require MDOT clearance of the overpass.
