DETROIT (WWJ) -- Tigers fans with Xfinity are no longer able to watch their team on TV after the cable company dropped Bally Sports Detroit in the middle of the night.

Beginning midnight Tuesday, anyone in Metro Detroit who goes to Channel 201 on Xfinity are greeted by the message: “Bally Sports is no longer available."

"This battle between Diamond Sports and Comcast has Tigers fans caught in between Valley Sports, Detroit and Xfinity pulling the plug on one another after not coming to an agreement on an extension," WWJ's Chris Fillar explained. "So Detroit viewers will not be able to see the flagship station on that service."

Fillar said both sides seem to blame the other for not accepting their proposals.

"People are definitely not happy," Fillar said. "We just has a season ticket holder call the Newsroom, and he vented quite a bit; not happy that he's unable to see his team right now."

Fans can still listen to Tigers games for FREE on 97.1 The Ticket — on the radio, online here , and on the free Audacy app.

To watch the games in Metro Detroit, Fillar said, folks with Xfinity will need to purchase an additional paid subscription. "You kinda gotta go the app route, and I think the Bally Sports app is like $20 a month. People aren't happy with hearing that either."

The Detroit Tigers released the following statement: "We are disappointed in the stalled negotiation between Bally Sports Detroit and Comcast, and the inconvenience it may cause for Tigers fans. Fans who subscribe to other cable companies are unaffected. Those who are impacted can continue to watch Tigers games on the Bally Sports+ app, DirecTV, Fubo, and MLB.tv. The Tigers have no voice in this matter but are hopeful the two sides will come to an agreement as soon as possible."

Fans outside the Detroit market can watch the Tigers on MLB.TV .

This all comes as the Tigers are moving in to May with a 17-13 record, and a top-five team ERA. As of Wednesday morning, the Tigers were just 2.5 games out of first place.

The next game is at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday against the St. Louis Cardinals. >>Listen on 97.1 The Ticket .
