(WWJ) — Sunday morning rain has led to flooding and multiple crashes across Metro Detroit freeways.

A pair of crashes on northbound I-75 near Holly Road and US-24 in Oakland County left the freeway closed for about three hours Sunday morning, leaving drivers forced to use Dixie Highway.

Several other crashes have popped up across many major area freeways, including I-75, I-696, I-96 and I-94.

Flooding, meanwhile, caused headaches for Metro Detroit drivers, including on southbound I-275 at 6 Mile Road, leaving just the left lane open for more than an hour.

Flooding was also reported along the Southfield Freeway near I-96 in Detroit.

Officials say it’s important for drivers to slow down while it’s raining and watch for ponding on the roadways.

AccuWeather says the rain is expected to move out of the area by early afternoon, but we could see more showers Sunday evening.

Officials with the National Weather Service said early Sunday morning a cold front would "stall out" over southern Lower Michigan, "providing a focus for additional showers and some thunderstorms."

The NWS says temperatures will be near-normal north of the boundary (M-46 north), while the warmest air remains south of the front.

High temperatures in Metro Detroit are expected to reach the upper 70s on Sunday. AccuWeather says those temps will hover in that area most of the week, potentially climbing into the low 80s on Thursday before potentially seeing more rain and thunderstorms next weekend.
