DES MOINES, Iowa — The downtown Des Moines skywalk food court Local Bites will soon have new owners that have some big changes in store.

Eatfuti will oversee the Local Bites food court and allow customers to order ahead and to-go on the Eatfuti app.

Marvin Azzopardi, the Chief Marketing Officer and Co-Founder of Eatfuti, said that he plans to change the operating hours of Local Bites to open in the evenings for special events and on the weekends.

“There’s various numbers on the number of people who actually live in the downtown skywalk district. My guestimate is somewhere between 9,000 and 13,000 and those are people that are here after 7 o’clock at night and there’s no place to eat so we plan on keeping it open giving them options,” Azzopardi said.

Azzopardi also plans to open a ghost kitchen in the Local Bites food court and a test kitchen to teach people how to cook.

Local Bites’ current operating hours are 11 am-2 pm Monday through Friday.
