Security guards skipped pat-downs in Decades nightclub shooting: report
WASHINGTON - New details have emerged regarding the shooting at a Dupont Circle nightclub that injured a bride-to-be and several other people. A report by D.C. police and the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Board states surveillance video shows security guards not properly patting people down or using metal detector wands because they hadn't been charged.
8-year-old girl struck by vehicle in Kensington
An 8-year-old girl was injured Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle on Woodson Avenue in Kensington, according to authorities. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel and county police officers were dispatched to the area of 11226 Woodson Ave. around 3:50 p.m. for a report of a child stuck by a vehicle, according to radio transmissions and an email from police spokesperson Shiera Goff.
Fatal shooting claims life of young Greenbelt man in Prince George's County
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A man was found inside a stairwell suffering from gunshot wounds that later took his life in Prince George's County Sunday evening. On May 5 at around 11:20 p.m., police said they responded to the 2600 block of Southern Avenue in Temple Hills, Maryland, for the report of a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, they found 22-year-old Louis Smith Jr. of Greenbelt, Maryland, suffering from gunshot wounds.
