From Franklin County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Mars. On Monday afternoon, February 26, Franklin County received a call of a pursuit coming into Franklin County. They advised that the suspect vehicle was a 2024 dark-colored Ford Expedition. The occupants had tried to pass a forged check for $6,000.00 at a bank in Lone Star. Officers from Morris County located the vehicle, which refused to stop.

The victim, who sustained visible injuries including a swollen eye and cuts, alleged that their son had attacked them while they were in bed. Bloodstains found in the bed supported the victim's account. The suspect, identified as 57-year-old Reginald Harold Childs, arrived at the scene with blood on his clothing and no apparent injuries.

Officers arrested Charles David Landers, 53, Monday on an outstanding warrant for Stalking, a Felony. The arrest originated from a series of events starting as early as January of 2024 in which Landers made multiple threats toward his spouse’s attorney and the attorney’s family members, as well as following the victim and making disturbing comments and threats. Landers was arrested without incident by Investigators of the Department.

The property has reportedly been sold and the building was vacant. NO injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

On February 27, 2023, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputies located Jesus Corral-Barriga, in the parking lot of 1135 S Broadway in Sulphur Springs. Corral was known to have a warrant for his arrest for a charge of Criminal Negligent Homicide. Corral was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to the Hopkins County Jail.
