    Denver weather: Soggy start to Friday with more showers on the way

    DENVER ( KDVR ) — Rain showers are in the Denver weather forecast on Friday, especially in the afternoon hours. Meanwhile, the high country will get more snow which will affect mountain travel.

    Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings are in effect for areas along the foothills and the high country.

    Weather today: Below average temperatures and rain

    The cool and cloudy conditions continue into Friday. Temperatures in the morning will start in the upper 30s and lower 40s and will top out in the upper 50s and lower 60s with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

    Meanwhile, the high country will be getting more snow as opposed to rain.

    Weather tonight: Cloudy start to the evening, some clearing

    The clouds stick around through the mid-evening hours. Some clearing will happen to the north of the Interstate 25 corridor. Overnight lows, however, will be mild, dropping down into the lower 40s.

    Looking ahead: Warmer with rain chances

    Saturday starts with plenty of sunshine. Clouds move into the metro area by the afternoon, along with isolated rain showers with the rain wrapping up by the evening hours.

    Mother’s Day will bring another chance for showers, especially later in the day. Temperatures will climb from a morning low in the 40s to a high in the mid to upper 60s, which is right in line with normal for this time of year.

    Heading into the workweek, warmer temperatures move into the forecast. Monday through Wednesday will also follow a familiar pattern of a chance for showers.
