NBA Fans Slam Shaquille O'Neal for Ruining Nikola Jokic's MVP Moment

NBA fans are slamming the legendary Shaquille O'Neal for spoiling Nikola Jokic's MVP moment on Wednesday night.

The NBA on TNT crew announced Jokic as the 2023-24 NBA MVP before Game 2 of the Pacers-Knicks playoff series. It's a well-deserved honor for the Nuggets' big man, who averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and nine assists per game during the regular season.

However, after presenting Jokic with the prestigious award, O'Neal voiced his displeasure over Jokic receiving the award. Why? He argues Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (who averaged 30.1 points, 6.2 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest during the regular season) of the Oklahoma City Thunder deserved the recognition.

"I don't like to rain on people's parade, but I'm not happy with this one," Shaq said during NBA on TNT. "...I felt Shai deserved it."

It's fine to disagree with a decision like national awards. But disagreeing with the decision moments after Jokic was on-air felt like bad timing on O'Neal's part.

Fans let O'Neal know all about their frustration with heated reactions on Twitter.

Shaq is an all-time great and one of the most beloved NBA figures in the sport's history. But he didn't need to do this. Give Jokic the credit he deserves and move on.
