David Carle Needs To Be On The Shortlist To Become Next Sharks Head Coach

Denver University head coach David Carle would be a perfect fit as the next coach of the San Jose Sharks.
Carle, 34, just completed his sixth season behind the bench at DU, where he won his second national championship in three years. This was DU's 10th program title.
Carle was also the head coach of Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship. He had Sharks prospect Will Smith on the roster and led that team to a gold medal.
Carle owns an outstanding overall record at the NCAA level, 148-62-16. USA Hockey announced that he would return as the head coach for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.
The Sharks could use his ability to get the most out of his team across all levels of the ice, especially with the influx of prospects on the horizon. Denver had the highest-scoring offense in the NCAA this season with 202 goals. When the National Tournament came around, Carle and the Pioneers turned into defensive powerhouses, giving up just three goals in four games.
DU shut out Smith and the Boston College Eagles in the National Championship game 2-0. BC was the second-highest-scoring team in the nation, with 183 goals.
Sharks GM Mike Grier has said he wants the next head coach to be someone with professional hockey experience. Carle has done everything to get a shot at the next level. His ability to grow with his team and develop young players is something the Sharks need, especially if they add a Macklin Celebrini at the 2024 NHL Draft.
Sharks prospect goalie Magnus Chrona was part of Carle's 2022 National Championship team. Chrona was the starting netminder and the winning goalie in the 5-1 win over Minnesota State.
There are many options for Grier to interview and discuss with his front-office team, but Carle needs to be high on his shortlist to become the next coach of the San Jose Sharks.
From Carle's side, there could be hesitation in jumping to the NHL as he is quickly becoming one of the most successful NCAA Ice Hockey coaches of all time, and he may not want to leave the college hockey game.
