Major traffic shifts coming to Chillicothe's North Bridge Street
Drivers on North Bridge Street will see major traffic pattern changes beginning Aug. 25 as the Ohio Department of Transportation moves into the next phase of its long-running Ohio 159 safety improvement project . The construction shift will allow crews to rebuild existing northbound lanes through the U.S. 35 interchange, according to a community announcement. During the phase, two northbound lanes will remain open as traffic is moved onto newly constructed concrete pavement that will eventually serve southbound Bridge Street. Motorists traveling north across the Scioto River who need to reach Shawnee Square, Nourse, Walmart or Kohl's will be directed to turn left at Stewart Drive. Traffic leaving Nourse, Walmart or Kohl's will travel around the roundabout, pass beneath the Scioto River bridge and access Bridge Street through Shawnee Square. New Chillicothe roundabout opens to traffic on Monday
CHILLICOTHE – The new roundabout at Mill Street and Yoctangee Parkway will open to traffic on Aug. 17. The roundabout is set to open before the start of the new school year as construction, funded through the Appalachian Community Grant Program, enters its final phase. Crews have completed roadway paving, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, pavement markings, pedestrian crossings, and the installation of new traffic signs at the intersection.
