Hello, Jackson! My name is Owen Hewitt, and I have started my role as The Jackson Sun’s full-time high school sports reporter. I am so excited to provide coverage of high school sports to readers in my home state. My goal as the high school sports writer is to provide the region with informative, timely fact-based journalism alongside in-depth stories that help our readers connect with teams, athletes and schools across West Tennessee. My reporting will go past scores and recruiting rankings to help uncover the stories in this area that are waiting to be told. My coverage of the area will also be multi-faceted. In addition to written articles, I will be providing live updates and video clips of high school events across the region on the X platform (formerly Twitter) from my account, @oyounothing. I am originally from Germantown, about an hour down Interstate 40, but I am excited to get to know Jackson and its surrounding areas. I want to soak up as much of Jackson’s history and culture as I can, and I cannot wait to get to know the folks who know Jackson best. If you have a question, comment, or story idea, send me
