And on the business side, it gives our vendors – whether they are in the workforce or in post-secondary education – the opportunity to get in front of our students and begin the relationship process.“The vendors want to show up and show out with what they have to offer. Our students are inquisitive and open-minded. It’s a win-win situation for all involved.“And equally important, our students were able to speak with representatives from a variety of organizations during one big event.”Twenty-five colleges/universities were represented at the event along with numerous local businesses and companies. Area law enforcement and the fire department attended, as did several branches of the military.“It was such a great opportunity for our students to explore entry-level career options and talk with employers about what makes an ideal employee for those positions,” Carson continued. “The variety of opportunities out there for our students is amazing. And it’s a great opportunity for them to begin practicing professional networking as well.“We’ve incorporated work-based learning here at Union City recently, and all of those businesses that we partner with were here. They want to connect with our students, and I believe that says a great deal about what type of experience it’s been for both parties.”Carson also praised the partnership she’s established with the Obion County Chamber of Commerce that helped greatly in putting together the event.“We have been so blessed to have the support of our Chamber,” she said. “Lindsay (Theobald) and Rachael (McKinney) have played such an integral part in the collaboration with our local businesses.“We could not put this event together without them.”</div></body>
