JPD hosts Law Enforcement Memorial to honor fallen officers
The Jackson Police Department held their 2024 Law Enforcement Memorial at the Carl Perkins Civic Center Friday morning. “It’s been National Police Week, all week, and, here in Jackson. We kind of wrap that up with, officer memorial service for those officers who have fallen in the line of duty. And so this is an annual event that we do, and it kind of, lets us, remember and lets us honor those who have died in the line of duty,” said Jackson Police Chief Thom Corley.
Hub City’s new Dixie plant is on schedule to open this summer

Jackson has a new school bus in town, but it's not carrying students
Your kids won’t get picked up in this school bus, because it only stops for fun and fitness. This month, the Jackson-Madison County School System launched their Rolling Recess Bus. This is the second bus like this in the state. The bus idea was first introduced by the school system’s Coordinated School Health Director, Annette Wilson.
Milan officials invite community to fentanyl awareness event
MILAN, Tenn. — Milan’s alderman and Milan’s chief of police invited residents to come learn about fentanyl and the dangers it brings when consumed. “So we are wanting to make our young people aware of what’s out there and how potent it is and how it affects us,” said Tammy Wade, Milan’s City Alderman.
Jones receives Boswell Memorial Scholarship
Ty Jones was the 2023-2024 recipient of the Joe Boswell Memorial Scholarship presented by the Scotts Hill Lions Club. Ty has been very active in FFA holding several offices throughout his school years. He plans on pursuing a degree in Food Science at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Presenting him with the award is Scotts Hill Lions Club Secretary, Patty Fisher. Congratulations, Ty.
The Stella offers a different alternative for event hosting
The Stella is a new and older place in Downtown Jackson. The building itself was built in 1869 at what is now the corner of Church and College streets. For the past few years, it was the home of LD2 Consignment Shop, but the owners of that shop decided to move, leaving the space vacant.
