Del Mar Heights School celebrates Peru at Cultural Heights event

The students and families of Del Mar Heights Elementary School celebrated the sights, sounds, and tastes of Peru at their annual Cultural Heights event held April 17. Musicians and dancers, introduced by Balboa Park’s House of Peru, showcased traditional Peruvian culture. Families also had the opportunity to weave at the loom, work on arts and crafts, taste Peruvian snack foods and empanadas, play some futbol, learn new words in Spanish and Quechua languages, and even meet a few Amazonian animals. Thanks to the school’s amazing STEAM+ teachers and parent volunteers, the students learned all about Peru, from its rich culture and history to the fascinatingly diverse geography that composes its beautiful landscape. The event took place on the Del Mar Hills campus.
